A popular treatment for men with enlarged prostate (BPH) has seen its first generic competitor to take a big step toward treating its condition.
The FDA approved the medication in January as an alternative to finasteride and the original one for treating the condition. But with its approval, a new competitor to finasteride and Proscar, the generic versions of the two drugs.
The new generic was developed by Johnson & Johnson in collaboration with the pharmaceutical company’s hair loss division, and the FDA approved it in June.
It’s the first time a new competitor to Proscar has been approved to treat BPH.
This new generic would also be the first to offer finasteride as a treatment for male pattern baldness.
The generic version of finasteride costs about $10 per month for the brand-name drug and is available without a prescription.
The FDA has approved the treatment for about 5,000 men worldwide.
In Europe, finasteride is available as a generic, and the generic version is only available by prescription.
It’s the first generic treatment for male pattern baldness to be approved by the FDA.
This is the first of a long series of studies to find out whether generic competition will be as effective as the brand-name versions. But a new generic competition could come next, which will likely take place in April, or early June.
The most recent study into the effects of a new competitor to Proscar is the one to be announced earlier this month. It found that the new drug had a better safety profile and was effective on average.
And, in an online survey of 1,300 men aged 50 and over, nearly a quarter said they had used a new drug before.
And that’s good news for men’s health.
It also appears to be good news for women. About half of all women say they use a new drug before taking finasteride.
Finasteride has been shown to cause hair loss in more than half of women as well as in fewer than one in six men. But women are also more likely to take it and have more patience with the drug's side effects.
The drug is currently available in both generic and brand-name versions.
So does it really hurt that Proscar is being sold as a generic competitor to finasteride and Proscar as the generic version of Propecia?
The answer is a resounding “No, it does not hurt.”
It’s also not clear how much the new drug will cost. But it will likely cost much less than the brand-name version, which was originally available at a much lower cost.
Proscar costs about $14 for a 90-day supply, while the new generic version is about $5 per month, or about $1.50 per pill.
“It will not be covered by insurance,” says Dr. William James, an internist at the Cleveland Clinic who studies hair loss.
He says that while Proscar might not be as effective as finasteride at treating male pattern baldness, it could still be effective on its own.
But James says a study published in the online Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology suggests that the benefits of finasteride, and not generic Propecia, can outweigh any potential side effects.
“There is no reason to think it’s any more effective than finasteride or Propecia,” he says.
In the meantime, men who take Propecia for hair loss need not take it as often or more often than they should. If you take Propecia at the same time as your regular tablet, you can take a pill at the same time and still benefit from the drug’s effects.
Finasteride has been shown to be effective in some men, but the drug will not be covered by insurance.
James says the FDA has approved the use of finasteride for hair loss, and is likely to approve it again in the next few years.
The new generic competition could also be the first of its kind.
“I think it is a great step for men who are looking to treat their prostate problems.”
It’s also possible that the new competitor will be the first to offer a new treatment for male pattern baldness, such as finasteride.

Propecia® (finasteride) is a medication that works by slowing the growth and progression of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). In men diagnosed with BPH, it's essential to identify the underlying cause and recommend effective treatment. BPH is defined as a persistent enlargement of the prostate that occurs as a result of an enlarged prostatection. This condition is common and often irreversible, often with warning signs and symptoms (e.g., difficulty swallowing, urinary frequency, and/or volume changes). In rare cases, the condition has been linked to an enlarged prostate cancer. BPH can lead a man to over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription medications, including finasteride and dutasteride, BOTH pills can be dangerous for those with BPH or men with a history of these conditions. Fortunately, BPH can resolve on its own without surgery and may be associated with an improved quality of life.
BPH is a chronic condition that impacts approximately 5-10% of men at some point in their lives. It can be a source of significant physical and emotional distress and a leading cause of prostate cancer, making it an important indicator of overall health status. In this article, we will explore theat risk of BPH, its causes, and the best treatment options available. BPH is also thought to contribute to the development and progression of BPH by slowing the growth and progression of atrophic prostates. This condition can lead men to over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription medications, including finasteride and dutasteride BOTH pills can be dangerous for those with BPH or men with a history of these conditions.
Finasteride (generic Propecia®) is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. It works by blocking the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that can contribute to BPH symptoms. By reducing DHT levels, finasteride can reduce the progression of BPH and promote the stabilization of prostate volume. BPH is a common condition affecting an estimated 1 in 4 men in the U. S. and can lead to men being over-treated with prescription medications and OTC medications. Dutasteride (generic Propecia®) works by inhibiting the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, which converts testosterone into DHT. By reducing DHT levels, dutasteride can inhibit the conversion of testosterone to DHT and promote prostate growth. Inhibition of 5-alpha reductase can promote the stabilization of prostate volume by reducing DHT levels. It is important to note that dutasteride does not work against DHT and may be beneficial in some cases. It is also important to note that dutasteride is not recommended for women or children under the age of 18 unless specifically indicated by your doctor. Finasteride is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to dutasteride or any of the other ingredients in Propecia® (finasteride). Minoxidil is an oral antibiotic that works by preventing the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that can contribute to BPH symptoms. DHT is a potent and selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM). By blocking DHT, finasteride can promote the growth of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in the body. Propecia® (finasteride) is an OTC medication that contains the generic active ingredient finasteride. It is an FDA-approved medication for the treatment of male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Propecia® (finasteride) is an OTC medication for the treatment of male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) in men of all ages.
Hi, I have been taking Propecia for the last 3 yrs. and it has been working for about 5 months now. I have been taking it for the last 4 yrs. when I was in the mid-90s I had a headache. I have also had a terrible headache, I have tried a lot of other things, like aspirin and diuretics and some antidepressants, and still nothing. I did go to a doctor in the early 90s, he told me that this medication was not working as well. I went to the doctor and he told me there were no side effects and the only thing I could think of was some side effects. I decided to try Propecia (finasteride) and I was a little nervous, I thought it was going to be expensive and maybe it would work, but I did nothing. I was also told that the cost is around $20-30 a month and I had heard that Propecia can be expensive and that the best way to go about it is with a doctor. I didn’t realize until I went to the doctor to see the doctor, he told me to use Propecia. He then told me to use Finasteride. I have been on this for the last 3 yrs. and my hair is starting to thin out. I’ve tried some other things, like Finpecia and Proscar, and have been told that the cost is around $20-30/month. My hair is still growing. I’m a little scared to go out for dinner with my hair. I’m just so scared. I’ve been having the odd migraine, I’ve taken some other things and nothing has changed. I am very embarrassed at this point. I’m really starting to panic. I’ve been taking Propecia for a few months now and I’ve been feeling a little anxious about it. I’m scared and anxious. I’ve tried lots of other things, like Proscar and Finpecia and it’s not working. I have been having a bit of a hard time sleeping. The only thing I can think of is some side effects. My hair is getting a little thicker and the scalp is getting a lot more sensitive to cold weather. I’m trying to keep my hair down and not go out at night. I’m nervous. I’ve been taking Propecia for a few months now and it has been working for a while. I’ve also been taking Finasteride. I’ve been feeling a little bit dizzy. I’ve just never had one of these before.
